Rana Jazayerli has more than twenty years of experience as a litigator, U.S. immigration, and family law attorney.
A graduate of Columbia Law School in New York, Ms. Jazayerli previously served as a law clerk to The Honorable Whitman Knapp, Senior District Judge for the Southern District of New York. Following her clerkship, she was an associate at the Washington D.C.- based law firm Covington, handling commercial litigation and international trade matters.
Since 2007, Ms. Jazayerli has focused her legal practice on U.S. immigration law, representing individuals and employers on a broad range of matters, from temporary employment visa categories such as H-1Bs and L-1As to obtaining U.S. lawful permanent residency based on family or employment sponsorship, or through investment. She also advises employers on proper I-9 form compliance and the use of the federal E-Verify employment authorization program.
In addition, Ms. Jazayerli has extensive expertise in the EB-5 Immigrant Investor visa program and has served on numerous panels at EB-5 conferences over the last ten years.
Ms. Jazayerli also represents clients across Northern Virginia and in the District of Columbia in all areas of family law from pre-marital negotiations and agreements to post-marital dispute resolution and separation and divorce, advising and representing on issues of alimony and/or property division, and custody and child support. While an experienced litigator who will zealously advocate for her client, Ms. Jazayerli also has experience in alternative dispute resolution and can advise her clients on options including mediation and settlement. In cases of divorce where children are involved, she never forgets that the main goal is a resolution that allows the parties to continue to parent together in the best interests of the children.
